- Forgotten Felines is having
an Adoptathon on Sunday February 12th, at Albany Village Hall, Doors open at
9am and close at 1pm. There should be approximately 30 cats and kittens up
for adoption. All Forgotten Felines usual conditions apply. Any kittens too
young to have been desexed will come with a desexing voucher, with a choice
of two local vets, and kittens will also come with a voucher for their first
vaccination. Please bring a cat carry cage. We look forward to seeing you
there, and hope that this Adoptathon is as successful as ones in the past,
when within hours, all our adoptees had found wonderful new homes.
Forgotten Felines is a non-profit registered charity dedicated to caring for stray and homeless cats on Auckland's North Shore. We care for a large number of stray cat colonies, trapping the adults to have them desexed, then returning them to their original environment, TNR (trap, neuter, release), and feed the colonies daily.
Kittens are trapped and go to fosterers who tame and look after them until they are ready to go to new homes. Prior to going to their new homes, they are vet checked, dewormed, deflead, and desexed. The TNR method is recognised throughout the world as the best way of keeping stray cats under control, as the adults are usually too wild to be rehomed. Please look at our adoption page to see some of our cats and kittens that are available now, or will be available soon.
We currently feed colonies in the following areas -
Mairangi Bay, Albany, Takapuna, Wairau Valley and Apollo Drive and need colony
feeders. If you are interested in feeding one of our colonies one night a week
please email Liz:
FF would like to say a big thankyou
to Mela the store manager at Animates Westgate for the donation of cat biscuits.
At a recent meeting we calculated that we feed over 90 cats daily so this donation
of IAMS adult biscuits is extremely appreciated. And many meows from the strays
on the North Shore.
